Dr Theo Costantino is an Australian artist and academic based in the UK, working as Head of Visual Arts in the School of Creative Arts at the University of Hertfordshire, and an Honorary Associate of the Sydney node (2017) of the ARC Centre of Excellence for the History of Emotions. Theo holds a PhD from Curtin University, where they worked from 2005–2017. They have received a 2015 Visual Arts and Craft Mid-Career Creative Fellowship from the Western Australian Department of Culture and the Arts, the 2013 Hutchins Art Prize and a 2011 Qantas Foundation Encouragement of Australian Contemporary Art Award, and their art work has been exhibited in Australia, Germany and the USA. Their chapter ‘Ruination and Recollection: Plumbing the Colonial Archive’ appears in Visual Arts Practice and Affect: Place, Materiality and Embodied Knowing edited by Ann Schilo and published by Rowman & Littlefield in 2016.
