The Society for the History of Emotions (SHE) is an international professional association for scholars interested in emotions as historically and culturally situated phenomena within past and present societies. The Society welcomes members working in the field of the history of emotions across the world, including independent scholars, early career researchers and postgraduates.

SHE News:

The next Ordinary General Meeting of SHE will be held on 3 October 2019 at LabO, 10 Daly St, University of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, as part of the 'Emotions in Conflict' conference. All 2019 Financial Members of the Society are welcome to participate.

Call for Proposals for Special Issues: Emotions: History, Culture, Society (EHCS), a journal of the Society for the History of Emotions, is pleased to announce its call for proposals for special issues. The next special issue will be published in the second half of 2021. The deadline for proposal submissions is 15 December 2019. Full details are here.

EHCS Journal (2019): The link to join the Society/renew annual membership for 2019 for SHE (including subscription to Issues 1 and 2 of Volume 3 (2019) of the Emotions: History, Culture, Society journal) is now open. Issue 3.1 was published in June 2019.

New North American Chapter: A chapter of the Society for the History of Emotions, the 'North American Chapter on the History of Emotion' (NACHEmotion), was launched in September 2018, co-chaired by SHE council members Susan Matt (Weber State University) and Peter Stearns (George Mason University).
