On November 12, pianist and composer Joe Chindamo and violinist Zoë Black will perform world premiere of Chindamo’s Love Tokens.
Supported by the Australian Research Centre (ARC) of Excellence for the History of Emotions, the concert celebrates the unbreakable bonds created throughout our lives, often despite the tyranny of distance and time. Love tokens are ‘gateways’ to our past and a reminder of those who have touched us most deeply.
Chindamo and Black’s performance is also part of Melbourne Recital Centre’s Local Heroes 2015 series where stories of World War I heroes are shared. Chindamo and Black’s concert is in tribute to ANZAC General Cyril Brudenell Bingham White. Supporting the program and inspiring Chindamo’s repertoire, Victoria’s Shrine of Remembrance shares a recently acquired painting from their archives
The ARC Centre of Excellence for the History of Emotions invites you to join the process of remembering. Members of the public and attendees of the concert are invited to bring along small portable objects of remembrance related to love and war and share its story in an informal one to one recorded interview prior to the concert. There will also be photography.
With your consent, this archive will become part an Objects and Emotions project convened by the Centre for the History of Emotions, available to the public on www.historyofemotions.org.au
So please come with your special memento on Thursday 12 November - we would love to hear about what and why it is important to you.
