Siobhan Hodge is an Associate of the UWA node (2017), having graduated with a PhD in English from The University of Western Australia in 2015. Her thesis examined the creative and critical legacy of the ancient Greek poet Sappho, including the works of later creative adaptors and translators. Siobhan is an Associate Editor of Rochford Street Review, Reviews Editor for Writ Review, and a contributing reviewer of Cordite. She has had articles, reviews and poetry published in a range of places, including Westerly, Axon, Colloquy, Limina, Cordite, Plumwood Mountain, Rabbit, Contrapasso, Peril and Kitaab. She has also been involved in several poetry-meets-art projects, including Anthologia and Westerly’s ‘Word Matter’”. She was the winner of the 2015 Patricia Hackett award for poetry and was Highly Commended in the 2016 Glen Phillips Poetry Prize. Her chapbook of Sappho poems, Picking up the Pieces, was published as part of the Wide Range Poetry Chapbooks series, sponsored by Cambridge University. An upcoming chapbook of horse-focused poems, Justice for Romeo, is anticipated for publication in 2017 with Cordite Books.
In this project for the ARC Centre of Excellence for the History of Emotions, Siobhan addresses her longstanding passions for both horses and poetry.
